How to waterproof your rugs
Wash according to the instructions and rinse out all detergent. Let it dry. Apply the waterproofing product and allow to set for around 12 hours. Note: The rug may darken somewhat when you waterproof it.
If snow settles and stays on the rug, even the waterproof, breathable rugs may get damp. During lasting rain showers, water will often get in through the neck line, and the rug may get damp around the edges. Worn and washed rugs may start leaking after a while. Apply waterproofing product to solve this problem. Do not wash your turnout rugs too often. Instead brush off the dirt when the rug is dry.
Top tips for fitting your Horseware® rug
Your hand should fit comfortably between the neck and shoulder areas and the rug. If it's too tight it could cause discomfort and rubbing.
If the rug extends beyond the top of the tail the rug may be too big. If the rug does not reach the top of the tail it may be too small. Examine the neck and shoulder area for fit before making a decision to choose a different size.
Make sure the tail is lifted over the fillet strap and that the strap is securely attached on both sides to prevent the rug from blowing forwards. Where possible pull the tail through the strapping on the inside of the tail flap.
The trigger clips on the V-front closure system should always be closed with the clasp facing inwards.
Belly surcingles should be adjusted to allow a hand width between straps and belly.
When closing the surcingles on a rug, secure the middle one first, then cross over the two outer surcingles.
Horseware® use two or three cross surcingles on all our rugs, except for our coolers and the following products that use three straight surcingles: Rambo® Optimo, Amigo® Bug Buster, Rambo® Sweet-itch Hoody.
Keep in mind that the neck on the Rambo® Wug is a higher fit, so the neck and chest areas will fit more closely.
